Neutrogena® Bright Boost Illuminating Serum 30mL

Neutrogena® Bright Boost Illuminating Serum 30mL

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Wish it had no shimmer or fragrance [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This serum guides on the skin beautifully, and leaves your skin with a very faint shimmer. It contains mica, which gives off the shimmer effect. Personally I’m not a fan, as it seems to be a bit artificial and unnecessary, esp when using at night. I’m also not a fan of the fragrance as i find it to be too strong and “artificial”. I did however appreciate that it contained a gentle AHA. I have sensitive and dry skin, and use a mild AHA and BHA and using this at night didn’t irritate my skin. I didn’t notice a dramatic difference, but my skin did feel nice and smooth in the mornings after use.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good serum on a budget [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Is it the best serum I've ever used? No. Is it an affordable option if you're looking for a serum? Yes. I used to twice a day for the last 6-weeks or so and I honestly have mixed feelings about it. It's not bad by any means, the simmer is minimal but it does offer a luminous finish. I would say it's maybe better for the evenings than twice a day. When put on under my make-up, it created like a pilling feeling on my skin which I really didn't like. Wasn't a problem if I was bare-faced however.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gives it a nice glow for dry-normal skin types [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this product as a sample and thoroughly enjoyed incorporating it into my new daily routine. I use this only in the morning after I wash my face and before I apply my sunscreen. The serum itself has a pearly white finish to it and I find that it gives me a nice glow. However, on hot humid days this 'glow' can look a little oily so I probably only recommend it for dry-normal skin, and not oily skin types. There is also a very heavy perfumed scent to the serum, which is the reason why it lost one star.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Its ok [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This was ok, like other reviewers; i was expecting a little more. I was happy that it didnt irritate my skin but i definitely did not see any difference. It looks pretty? There is micro shimmer which i dont think was needed and when the products were layered, it did feel a little heavy but separately, it was nice. The last thing i can complain about is the fragrance- i would give the product another star if it was fragrance free. It runs through the whole line. Its not unpleasant- but more unnecessary.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Doesn't work well with other products [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Neutrogena Bright Boost illuminating Serum is a light serum with a pleasant scent. I found it made my skin extra soft and hydrated after using it. What I didn't like about this product: * The self filling pump doesn't seem to work properly. You end up having to refill it with product 2-3 times before there is enough to use for one face application. This is pretty annoying and something I would have hoped Neutrogena would test. * It doesn't work well with other products. When I put SPF and makeup over the top of this serum I find it pills and I have to take everything off and start again. For this reason I would recommend using this product in the evening. Although I'm not sure what the use is of an illuminating serum before bed? I don't think I would recommend this as the positives didn't outweigh the negatives on this one.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Feels great but didnt deliver in the illumination [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This serum is very refreshing, its smells great and applies well to the skin but im not sure what difference it really made. It didnt instruct when to use in the facial regime but i applied after my moisturiser and before make up. It also took me a while to figure out that you release the drops by pressing the top of the lid as there were no instructions so for a long time i thought the stick was pretty useless. Overall smells and feels great when first applying but not sure its giving the brightening illumination of the skin that its says it is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Leaves my face looking vibrant [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] In the past, I’ve tended to steer clear from serums because those I’ve used before have left my face oily, which would usually cause me to break out the next day. This one however is just perfect! No oily residue, no breakouts, just vibrant looking skin that feels soft and smooth. I think I’ll be back on the serums again, but not just any serum, has to be this one! My face was left feeling smoother and looked brighter even after just a couple of uses! I had all my friends and family asking me what I had started to do differently with my skincare routine and I couldn't stop telling them about how great this new find is! Definitely recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new holy grail [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received the Neutrogena bright boost range to trial and to say I was impressed is an understatement. I’ve been struggling with skin that is dry one day and oily the next, looking rather lifeless and dull, but after using this serum, in combination with the exfoliater and moisturiser my skin has never looked better. The serum is light enough for me to wear during the day, yet also suitable for nighttime as it really locks in moisture without being greasy. I wasn’t a massive fan of the scent, however im happy to overlook that for the results I’ve had using this. I will definitely repurchase this whole range again and again!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Illuminating Serum [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really liked Neutrogena Bright Boost Illuminating Serum! My skin definitely improved using it. I was using the Micro Polish & Gel Cream in the range to compliment it. It left my skin soft and glowing, and I did noticed an improvement in texture over time. The only issue I had was actually with the bottle itself! The pump/dropper was a little frustrating, you can literally only pick up one drop at a time with it. It does mean you have to repeat the process a few times to get the drops you need for your face, but it's a minor issue. Definitely recommend it otherwise!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from An alternate serum if you’re on a budget! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m a big fan of using serums and have been using Fresh vitamin C serums for the past year. After trying this one from Neutrogena it’s definitely a big difference. I’m not a huge fan on fragranced products on my face because it does give me a light headache after a while and also there are hints of shimmer in the serum which can get all over your hands and body if you’re using this daily. It does the job and definitely brightens however it’s a bit too much for everyday and would suggest using this every odd two-three days.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for me.. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I trialled this product in conjunction with the micro polish exfoliant and moisturising gel cream from the same neutrogena bright boost range. The range comes in cute pink packaging, and claims to help brighten the skins appearance. I have easily sensitised skin, so was immediately put off with the amount of fragrance in not only this product, but also the others products in the range. I didn't notice any irritation as such, but my skin became drier throughout my time using this range, and I feel that I may have had some issues if I continued to use these products together without incorporating other products to counter this. This serum was my least favourite product in the range. The mica does provide a good glow, and it does act as a nice highlighter underneath makeup (which is what I will use it for in the future), but the serum does not seem to provide any hydration to the skin, something which I definitely need in a serum. I also did not notice any improvement to my skin after continued use. Based on the fragrance, and lack of any noticeable improvement, I would not recommend this serum, especially for drier and/or sensitive skin types.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does well with other products from the range [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] A good serum, but not hydrating enough for my skin. It has a pleasant smell and a good serum consistency that gets absorbed into the skin in a few seconds and makes it feel tight. Over time, I've had to top up with a moisturizer as my skin didn't feel supple enough throughout. It has a non-comedogenic formula so it's great for skin types that are normally sensitive to oily serums. Overtime, my skin did brighten up, but I would not want to attribute this to one product alone, as I've used this in conjunction with other Neutrogena products. A fair product , but there are better ones out there!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from was expecting more [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Neutrogena is one of my trusted brands and I like their other serums and was very excited to try Bright Boost illuminating serum. It comes in a cute shimmery bottle. It has a very mild fragrance which is pleasant. It has a very thick consistency and shimmer in it. It claims to be oil free, alcohol free, and non-comedogenic but I had a doubt that it would suit my oily summer skin. It easily gets absorbed into my skin and did not feel heavy on the skin. I used it with the other products in the range. The product didn't quite suit well along with the other products and make up for my skin as it started pilling and also my skin has a shine especially on my T-zone after a few hours. I decided to try it on its own a couple of times and it was hydrating and no pilling. I could not see any brightening or illuminating effects though. Honestly, I was expecting more and would not recommend this to someone with oily skin.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from SO. MUCH. SHIMMER! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was so excited to try this product, I absolutely adore the exfoliant in this range but it does not live up to expectations. The serum is quite thin but feels really silicone heavy on application on the skin, perhaps this serum will work better for me in the winter. In the summer it feels suffocating on the skin. On application the product does tingle my sometimes sensitive skin, but that went away quite quickly. However after a few days of use in conjunction with the matching gel cream moisturiser my skin got quite sensitive and irritated. So those of you with sensitive skin proceed with caution. Perhaps its not an everyday product for me. All that to say, my biggest issue with this product is the addition of mica. SO MUCH MICA aka shimmer. The shimmer is rather large dark gold shimmer particles and on my very fair skin it looked like I was attempting my best edward cullen cosplay! WHY?? This meant that if I applied this product in the morning I felt I HAD to wear makeup if I was leaving the house. I'm not sure if there were any redeeming qualities about this product for me, so will not be recommending this one to friends.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Slightly thicker serum with shimmer [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Bright Boost Illuminating Serum does give you a 'glow' effect but not sure about the long term effects as I noticed tiny shimmer particles in it. It has a pleasant fragrance but might be irritable for skin types that is sensitive to fragrance. It is a slightly thicker and greasier serum, which I don't mind as I have dry skin. I would use this at night time and probably wouldn't wear a thick moisturiser on top or oil, just a gel cream. Makeup sat alright on top of it as long as I waited for it to settle. This is probably my least favourite out of the Bright Boost range.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Serum is a bit thick and sparkly The serum has a shimmer to it which adds to the glow it gives you. It is a bit more viscous and slightly greasier than other serums I've worn - which I don't mind as I have dry skin. I wouldn't wear a thick moisturiser or oil on top, would opt for a gel cream moisturiser. It does have a refreshing scent but might be irritating for some skin types

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Leave it to the Evening [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the Neutrogena Bright Boost Illuminating Serum with the Gel Cream. Initially I was applying it in the morning before moisturizer and in the evenings. I was loving the way it was making my skin feel, however after a couple of days I discovered it's a little too heavy to wear throughout the day. I felt my skin became a little overwhelmed by the products, so I reduced the amount and only apply during the evenings. I found this worked better for my skin type (sensitive) and I really do love the way my skin feels when I apply the serum at night.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not really a fan [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My honest review on Neutrogena Bright Boost Illuminating serum. The serum is creamy slides on the face pretty quick and goes on smooth on the skin. The only reason this is ‘brightening’ for the whole range is that it’s full of glitter for the whole serum, which I personally don't like it as a base or in my serum. It’s mildly scented which I feel good when I am applying. But it would be a gerat base if you but in your foundation or use it as base, so you will have a shimmering effect brightening up from the skin.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The glow that keeps on giving [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely adore this serum. It's super moisturising, silky on the skin and leaves a glow. You only need a little but to go a long way. I use this twice a day under my moisturiser, and I love that it absorbs into the skin so fast as well, meaning no waiting to be anything else on top of it! It's an absolute 10/10 for me and will continue to be part of my ongoing skincare routine this year. Just remember to use sunscreen with it, as it contains AHAs that can make your skin more susceptible to burning in the sun.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from not terrible, annoying self filling pump [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Neutrogena Bright Boost illuminating Serum is a lovely light serum that gives softness to the skin. It comes with a self-filling pump that I must say I HATE! The self-filling pump does not seem to work well, I need to fill the pump about 3-4 times to get enough for my face I believe it must be faulty because it only dispenses 1 drop of the product. The product itself is light and soft on the skin however sometimes sits on top of the skin rather than absorbing so if I use it on a day that I have not used the micro polish, I find it sits on the skin a little more. Over all I enjoy the product and am happy to continue to use it. I think I would be more likely to repurchase the original Hydro boost serum over this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fav Product Out Of The Range! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product was probably my favourite out of the Bright Boost range. It was so silky upon application and it felt like a dream when I massaged the product in. I instantly noticed brighter and glowier skin. My only concern with serums is the congestion it may cause, but I'll only find this out over time. So far so good. I think the best part about this was the fact I can use this alone on some days when I'm in a rush and just need something quickly on my face which will be good for my skin and provide moisture. I don't think it's necessary to have a moisturiser on top of this - but SPF is still a must on top regardless!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Absolutely love this product! My skin has never looked better. My skin is brighter and feels so soft thanks to this range. It has a slight fragrance but isn't overwhelming. The only downside I found was my dropper didn't work properly and wouldn't pick the product up. I've had dull skin most of my adult life and I've never found a product that improves it over time as well as on the spot, but this does it all, especially when used with the other products in the range. Great price point for a product that feels luxurious like this

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My skin feels primed after using this [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First of all, the packaging is cute. It's a different way of presenting serum with a dropper which I liked. The serum itself has micro 'glitters' or shimmers which I'm still contemplating if I like it or not. You can only notice the shimmer if you look closely to the product, or to your face when you've applied it. I guess it adds to its illuminating factor. I used this serum after the micro polish and my skin is already feeling soft, when I applied the serum, for me the end result is like my skin is primed. It has a silky feel on my skin.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lightweight Serum, with Instant Shimmer [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Neutrogena Bright Boost Illuminating Serum is a serum formulated to nourish and brighten the appearance of dull, tired looking skin, helping to improve uneven tone. The serum comes in a bottle with an easy to use dropper to help dispense the serum. It is recommended to be applied every morning and evening, with 4-5 drops massaged onto the face. The serum has a slightly sweet scent and I find that it does not linger too long. The serum is easy to apply, easily gliding on the face and absorbs fairly quickly into the skin. Personally not a fan of mica being used to justify the "illuminating serum" making the face more radiant. I do like the easy to use formula which is sort of a milky texture and not oily. This is quite enjoyable to use, and can be a great layer under makeup. Just remember allow the serum to fully absorb before apply the next step in the routine, such as the Gel Cream, as this can cause a stinging reaction if applied too quickly after the serum. Overall this is an easy to use product with some nice results that just depends on what you want to achieve from using it. I will continue to use this to see if there are more permanent illuminating effects for radiant skin.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Soft luminous glow [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been trying the Neutrogena Bright Boost range for about a month now and this illuminating serum is my favourite product in the range. It provides a nice, luminous, almost effortless glow when used and sits well under makeup. I love using it under sunscreen/makeup as it provides a nice glow during the day however, for night use I prefer a serum with glycolic acid/retinol. The serum applies quite well and sinks in the skin. It is a gel/watery consistency which I personally like. The packaging is quite adorable and I love the peachy colour. Overall, a good day time foundation which doesn't make your skin sensitive to UV during the day.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Layers well, instant awake skin [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Neutrogena Bright Boost Illuminating Serum features their Accelerated Brightening Complex to reduce the appearance of imperfections and improve skin tone and texture. I really enjoy the dropper packaging of this product as it makes using it easy and mess free. Like the gel cream in the range, it contains micro-shimmer particles for an instant brightening effect on the skin that thankfully disappear for the most part on the skin so you don’t look as though you have glitter on your face. The texture of the serum is silky and it sinks into the skin nicely without leaving an oily or tacky residue. Layered with other skincare products and under makeup, it worked well and didn’t affect application. I definitely found that my skin looked awakened and brighter after using this product and the others in this range, though I would’ve loved the formulas to have been a bit more hydrating for added glow.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Shimmery Day Time Serum [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Really love this serum! It's light-weight and smells really nice. There's definitely a bit of glitter through the serum for an instant glow which is actually really nice under makeup and for this reason it's more of a day serum for me. I normally prefer to use brightening products at night as I did notice my skin was a little more sun sensitive while using this range. I didn't notice any brightening effects on scarring or pigmentation- but hopefully they will come! Would still recommend for a nice, lightweight morning serum.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dewy and light [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product worked beautifully under makeup and gave a subtle glow without applying a highlighter. It brought a gorgeous radiance to the skin. I did prefer to wear it under makeup rather than on its own in my skincare routine as soon as it dried into the skin it almost felt as though it was sucking the moisture out. I loved the dropper applicator it made the experience a little luxe and also was great for enabling control of the amount of product dispensed less waste! This product is great for achieving a glitter/shimmer on the skin.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not great [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Neutrogena Bright Boost Illuminating Serum is a light serum that claims to brighten and illuminate tired looking skin. It comes in a dropper bottle and 4 -5 drops is enough to cover the face. The formula is heavily fragranced which I found off putting. I’m not sure how someone with sensitive skin would react to this product as it might be irritating. It feels slightly tacky on application and seems to have a glittery finish. I did not find it brightened or refreshed my skin at all. It certainly did not add any hydration to my skin which is definitely something I want from a serum. This serum hasn’t really done anything for my skin. It doesn’t really hydrate and it hasn’t brightened my skin at all so it’s not a product I would buy in future.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for drier skin types [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got to try the Neutrogena® Bright Boost™ Illuminating Serum alongside its complementary products (aka micro polish to use before and moisturising gel to use after). I liked the scent of the serum and the texture was quite pleasant - although I think the shimmer/glitter in it is unnecessary. The formula is easily absorbed by the skin but I didn’t feel like like this was the suitable 1st moisturising step for my skin type. My skin felt smooth after using all 3 products but I don’t think it’s the right product range if you have a dry skin. I didn’t feel like my skin was brighter and my tone evened but that might require a longer usage...
